Los Altos, Calif. — November 12, 2024 — Today, at approximately 11:37 AM, the Los Altos Police Department responded to a report of a possible threat against Los Altos High School. Following a thorough investigation, officers determined the threat to be a hoax.

Los Altos, Calif. — February 22, 2024 — The City of Los Altos is excited to announce the compost program's availability for 2025. The self-serve compost station will return for three weeks:  

  • Wednesday, April 9 - Friday, April 18
  • Wednesday, June 4 - Friday, June 13  
  • Wednesday, September 10 - Friday, September 19 

During these allotted times, it will be open 24/7 and will be refilled regularly. This year, the station will be located at the Los Altos Community Center parking lot (97 Hillview Avenue).

Los Altos, Calif. — November 16, 2024 — The Los Altos City Council unanimously voted Tuesday night (Nov. 12) to approve an ordinance moving Los Altos to a district-based system for electing City Council members. This ordinance establishes the boundaries for five new districts, sets the election schedule beginning in November 2026, and outlines residency requirements for potential candidates.

The first district-based elections will begin in November 2026 with Districts 2 and 4. Elections for Districts 1, 3, and 5 will take place in November 2028.

Los Altos, Calif. — November 12, 2024 — Today, at approximately 11:37 AM, the Los Altos Police Department responded to a report of a possible threat against Los Altos High School. Following a thorough investigation, officers determined the threat to be a hoax. 

Late this morning, school administrators received notification that an individual had made a threat against the high school through a crisis center’s online chat platform.
